ON THE RISE – 3rd IN STATE

Sunset High School finished with the best volleyball season in the schools 51 year history, finishing third at the 2009 State Playoffs! All 14 players on the varsity roster contributed at some point in the playoff run that included wins against North Medford, West Linn, McNary, and Canby. The only loss came at the hands of eventual state champion Central Catholic Rams. Special recognition goes to our three seniors Kristin Heywood, Sarah McPike and Laurel Green.

Sunset JVII Purple, coached by Dan Santos, also had a remarkable season finishing undefeated in metro league play with a decisive victory of Jesuit. Coach Santos’ team was two points away from a perfect season.

Both the JV and JVII White teams also finished with very successful seasons. The JV team finished second in league.
